Frosty

I didn't drive all weekend and considered working from home this morning. There were three accidents on my eight miles into work this morning plus a few times when I thought I would be the fourth. Thankfully I was up early to hit the post office for last minute mailings so there weren't too many people on the road yet.

While I do the love the cold, it sure came early this year. Walked outside last evening for a few minutes without a sufficient head covering so the snot in my nose started to crystallize. And this morning I had to scrape the inside of my windows… I'm guessing the moisture from my breath had frosted them. Might need to find somewhere else to be next winter. *snicker*

Not a Scab

While I think the whole ‘Day Without Gays’ is a fun idea it really doesn't work for me. Facing a deadline it would only get me behind and negatively impact the team. Disappearing for a day right now would be more selfish than awareness raising. Instead of a passive protester, every day I am an active reminder by being out at work and unafraid of answering questions or making observations.

Saucy

A data relationship management bug is causing my previously-working code to break. Checked with Russ about it in the morning then he wandered by this afternoon:
Russ: Was wondering if I can help you with your Relationships problem.
Sean: NO. But thanks.
Russ: Well I thought…
Sean: I've been dating men for over thirteen years now. It's great that you're married and family life suits you. And while I appreciate the concern, I really don't know what you can do.
Russ: …
All that rolled off my tongue so smoothly it was amusing to watch his stunned face processing. Earlier in the day my cubicle neighbor got observant via IM:
Jeff : odd so very odd . . . how is it you actually function in this world?
Sean: DENIAL, ALCOHOL, AND OCCASIONAL SEX WITH OTHERS.
Jeff : and I am guessing the alcohol helps with the others?
Sean: REQUIRED
Maybe I should go drinking tonight. After all, it is the 75th anniversary of the end of prohibition.

Make Our Clothes, Fix Our Hair

Wow. No one can escape Prop 8 — The Musical as it works social viral magic, from Facebook to MSNBC. Sure it's a bit late yet the humor and awareness helps. Maybe the next electoral hate cycle will enable collection of some gay marriage/divorce litigation dollars…
